FOUNTAIN WORSHIP CENTRE, CHURCH IN KENYA

INTRODUCTION

Fountain Worship Center is a Ministry of Fountain of Light Centres International which is an affiliate of Nationalight Ministries International. The ministry was founded by Rev. Dr. Steve Ngethe and Dr. Esther Ngethe his wife on June 10th 2001 in Nakuru, Kenya. The ministry’s premises are situated on the East Gate of Nakuru City along the great North Road that runs all the way from Cape Town in South Africa to Cairo in Egypt.

NAKURU CITY

Nakuru City has a population of about 500,000 people of mixed tribes and races. We have about 42 tribes in Kenya hence forming the same number of dialects in the city. We have Swahili and English as the national languages. Christianity forms about 82%, Traditional religion 10%, and Muslims only 6%. The percentage of those in Christianity seems to be quite deceiving as majority is not yet born again and they need Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Most of them say they are Christians just because they are not any of the other religions or because they were born in a Christian home. Our greatest challenge is to evangelize within these groups and make known the mission of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

The city is situated 160km North of Nairobi City which is the Capital of Kenya. Nakuru is bordered by beautiful and natural environment which serves as a good tourist attraction. The famous pink flamingoes of Lake Nakuru Game Park add color to the beautiful sceneries of the lake. We also have other wonderful wild animals like lions, giraffes, hippos, zebras, rhinos, buffaloes, Leopards, wild hogs, ostriches, and gazelles which are a wonder to behold.

We do have other tourist sites neighboring the great city like the dormant Menegai Crater, and the hot springs of Lake Bogoria. We do make sure that all our missioners do visit some of these sites during their visit. We also give them a guided tour to our city so that they can do their shopping and also get some souvenirs.

ABOUT THE CHURCH

The church is situated on a 0.406 hectare piece of Land which we were able to purchase from the funds we received from our members and our international friends. We are very grateful to our international friends who played a key role in helping us acquire the premises for the church. The church is on the Eastern gate of the city 7 km from the city center. This area is sparsely populated with many needy people that need our attention. This part of the city is undergoing slow development due to lack of electric power lines and lack of piped water, but we trust God that things will change with time. We have been looking the possibilities of digging a well when we get funds. The city is expanding towards this area and many people are buying property around here.

The church has been very active in the area of evangelism and disciple making. We have also been involved greatly in church planting within and outside our country. Our purpose has been to strengthen and train leaders irrespective of their denomination. We also do network with quite a number of ministries, churches, and friends both locally and abroad for the purposes of equipping the body of Christ. Our affiliation to Nationalight Ministries which is under the leadership of Dr. Johnny Mays and Peggy Coble, has yielded good results as quite a number of our ministers have been ordained by the same ministry. The same ministry has been our point of contact and a reference point while in the United States. They also played a great role during my Bible School training in Lancaster Bible College, something I will always cherish as a minister of the Gospel. Through this relationship we have been introduced to so many other friends and churches in USA. Thorp Community church has been an outstanding church for me while on the Western part of the States. Pastor Roger who pastors the church has been in our country and He was a great blessing to us.

VISION, PURPOSE, & PHILOSOPHY

Our vision is to reach the unreached and tell the untold of our loving Savior. The strategy has been to reach each community or sphere of influence through the development of relationships. We do believe it is God’s desire to work through his people, “The Church” to offer His messages of hope and comfort. We have a deep desire to give people the joy of the Scriptures by transferring biblical and practical information into a plan of action and mutual accountability.

We have a purpose of providing every opportunity for the involvement of believers in the work of the ministry by equipping them with God’s Word. Our responsibility has been to proclaim Him, admonish and teach everyone with all wisdom. We also do offer careful Biblical encouragement, direction, hope, and personal growth to hurting people in a hurting World.

Our philosophy is to provide practical training and equipping believers, lifting them up to their next level of destiny. It is our heartfelt desire to equip them to effective ministry in all God has called them to do and mobilize them to reach others. We do impart and instruct them into a new dimension of ministry. The believers are equipped for effectiveness hence leading them into establishment of disciples. The standard of God’s Word is raised in them through teaching and effective training. We have a genuine desire to see lives changed and people coming to Christ Jesus.

 MINISTRY SPIRITUAL RESOURCES AND SUPPORT

Stewardship is a big part of this task as others entrust us with their resources. This requires faithfulness and accountability in very level of the relationship involved. We do thank God for all those who have generously supported us with their prayers, material gifts, and funding in one way or another.

We have been able to purchase a 0.406 hectare piece of property where the partially completed church is situated. This has been made possible because we have had friends who care and are concerned in advancing God’s Kingdom worldwide. The building of the church is still going on but at a slower pace due to financial constraints. We are also intending to build the following in the same premises when funds become available:

bullet

A school of ministry

bullet

A counseling centre

bullet

A Christian Library

bullet

A rehabilitation centre for the street children

bullet

A Hospital for the community

Out uttermost desire has been to acquire the neighboring piece of property which is unoccupied to be able to enlarge our vision. It is wonderful to know that you can also share the joyous news into the world desperate in need of being reached through prayers and your love gift. We have a purpose and a destiny, and together we can proclaim the vision and make a difference. Your Gift is an eternal investment in the lives and ministry of other believers worldwide, and leaves a legacy in our ministry.

We thank God for our ministry partners who have supplied us previously with ministry resources in form of books, software, Bibles, videos, CD’s , and Sunday School materials. This has played a great role in enhancing our various departments within the church. Our Father God will greatly reward you in all that you do and bless the labor of your hands.

BUILDING PROJECT

We have erected a Sanctuary which is 100 feet by 50 feet with a capacity of seating 2000 people. The building is partially completed but we are using it as it is. We have been having plastic paper walling on the sides because we have not been able to get funds to put up the stone (block) wall. We started with the raising up of the pillars to support the roofing. We have put up the roofing material (corrugated iron sheets) with exception of some portions where the church offices will be. This has helped us move from the hotel premises which we used to rent to our own premises.

We are able to have the midweek meetings at the moment which we were not able to have at the hotel. This has increased our growth rate with 62.5%. We need to catch up with the increasing growth as the seats at the moment are few and some people have to stand. We have about 200 seats in the church and sometimes we have to modify some makeshifts for the people to sit on.

The roof is a tin roof supported by steel pillars. The sides have been plastic paper which we are intending to remove. The hot tropical sun and winds have caused the side paper to be tattered and destroyed. The remaining portions have been worked on by children who drill holes through it. We are taking a leap of faith by removing the paper and believing God for the real wall and a concrete floor.

HEAVENLY SHUTTLE TRANSPORT SYSTEM

We thank God for Randy Murieen and Peggy Coble who made sure that our transport problem was dealt with. Their generous contribution was able to help us buy a van for the church. This van has been used greatly to transport our members who come from a radius of about 10 miles. Previously they had to walk or those privileged ride their bicycles to the church. Sometimes it was a problem to those who came from far incase it rained.

This has eased the transport system to many who could not even afford the public transport system. It has given them an opportunity to come even for the midweek meetings to be taught God’s Word. They are greatly overjoyed with this kind of provision and they are even inviting their neighbors to come to church.

We are also using the van for our outreach ministries outside. We have had a problem there before of transporting the sound system together with the ministry team for our out door evangelistic meetings. The van has been very instrumental in our evangelistic campaigns and crusades.

MISSIONS AND OUTREACH

The enthusiasm of the ministry has been to plant new churches both locally and abroad. We have earmarked New Zealand and Sri Lanka and at the right moment we will go and open churches there. We have quite a number of sister churches here in Kenya. The furthest of this churches being over 250 miles away in a place called Sigor.

We also have a ministry to schools and institutions of higher learning with an aim of developing character and integrity in the lives of the students. It has been quite successful and some schools will always call also before they do their exams so that we offer a prayer to the students.

Our networking with the various ministries, churches, and individuals, has given as an opportunity to reach our local people and the rest of the world for Jesus Christ. Special thanks to: Nationalight Ministries International, Thorp Community church (WA), Faith Bible Church (PA), First Assembly of God (Lancaster, PA), Dr Johnny Mays, Peggy and Jim Coble; Don and Jean Rowlett; Randy & Beverly Murieen; Pastor Scott & Debby Althouse; Pastor Kris & Darlene Newman; Nelly and Richard Crawford; Paul and Deb Heisey; Steve & Megan; Steffy and Maribel; Pastor Peg, and the Full Gospel church New Mexico; Pastor Roger & his wife and all the rest. We love you all for your good work and sacrifice to advance God’s work in Kenya.

My mission trip to USA last year in the month of April 2204 was a great success. I was reunited with my old friends and fellow ministers of the Word. We were able to share great things of what God has done for us. God gave me an opportunity also to develop new relationships for the purposes of networking with other ministers and churches. I was able to visit the States of Washington, California, Oregon, and Pennsylvania.

Thanks to Don and Jean Rowlett; Randy Murieen; Pastor Roger; and Peggy for their tireless support to make it work. I was able to minister to the people of America through the courtesy of Don and Randy via the TV and the radio. Thanks also to the many Pastors who opened their churches for me to minister, like Pastor Dave of the Foursquare Church, Ellensburg. May God bless you all!

CONCLUSION

Ephesians 4:16

…………..However, We are compacted or held together by that which every joint supplies….. We are confident that He who began a good work in us will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ (Phil 1:6). We do hope that most people will be able to capture the spirit of the Great Commission and work in partnership and unity with the rest of the body of Christ.
