In August of 1998, two of the NationaLight team members, Randy Murieen and Peg Coble were scheduled to meet Johnny and a Kenyan brother, along with some others from Pennsylvania, to travel to Kenya for a long awaited ministry trip to Africa.

Preparations had been going on for some months on both sides of the world. Posters had been put up in the town of Thika, featuring Brother Johnny, along with a pastor and a professional singer, announcing a series of meetings in the area.

Peg and Randy were following the lead of the Holy Spirit to go along and assist behind the scenes as needed. In short order, the plans of man were set aside as God began to reveal His purposes!

Brother Johnny and the other pastor and singer were hindered from going at the last minute. Only 3 lay ministers, Peg, Randy and Tilly Mahon caught the plane with Samuel Mwangi. Later we were to learn that Air Israel flew to Kenya just once a week, so Johnny was further prevented from joining the small group.

Though finding it nearly unbelievable that the Lord sent us on alone, and Peg lost all of her luggage along the way as well, the 3 proceeded by faith and left the circumstances up to the Lord! In just a couple of days, God had wondrously united the team with Pastor Mabatia and his family and Evangelist Steve Ngethe and his family.

Not only were the meetings held, the anointing of the Lord fell on each member as they served in a new capacity. As the first week quickly passed, the team was led to travel north to a small village in northern Kenya where many wonders, signs and miracles took place! A small 1/4 ounce bottle of anointing oil flowed endlessly when the perimeter of ground for a new church building was consecrated for the Lord in Thika and approximately 300 villagers were anointed and filled with the Holy Spirit in Sigor!

The team has helped Steve with 3 years of administrative and counseling training in the States. Brother Johnny led a team back to Kenya in September, 2001. Steve and his wife, Esther, have been wonderfully connected to our families and home churches.

Isa 55:8-9 "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." (NIV)
